Home

The pup is home from the hospital. Her toe is still fractured and she still has open wounds, but the healing is slowly progressing. She's on 5 different medications to keep the infection and the pain away. She is not wearing a cast or any bandages. Hoping that being home is okay for her. She hasn't eaten much since being home. And has thrown up a bit too. We go back on Monday to check her progress.

The wounds on her leg, particularly the two on her foot are deep and horrible but it didn't cover as much of the leg as I had thought. I think what I saw was mostly blood and ooze, so it looked worse. I'm grateful for that but the wounds that are there are still pretty bad, in my opinion. I am trying to focus on knowing it could be worse and she is doing well considering. The mommy in me is finding this very difficult!

Thanks for all your well wishes, and I will keep you up to date on her progress. In the main time, does anyone have any advice for how to satisfy her pent up energy when she can't run or jump?

Just read all of your posts on the dog. How utterly unbelievable. To say that I would be quite unhappy if this happened to one of my critters is an understatement. I hope that she heals quickly - I know how important she is to you!!

I'm glad she is doing ok and I really hope the wound heals up quickly. I'm not sure on how to help you with the energy because I have an old, lazy dog who doesn't do much.

I hope she heals quickly!! She probably feels much better just being at home rather than in unfamiliar surroundings.

Poor Emma. I hope she's feeling a bit better today and has an increasing appetite. No idea on how to help with the pent up energy - I have 2 lazy cats. ;) They'll happily spend all day laying around and napping.

Aww...poor Emma. It must be so hard to see her like this. I hope she heals soon and that you were finally able to figure out what help she needed. Poor doggie!
