25 days of Giveaways - Day 24

Welcome to the 25 days of Giveaways. Hosted by Tina.
This annual giveaway is for bereaved parents
with prizes for honoring and remembering their babies.

For those of you coming to my blog for the first time, allow me to tell you my story:

(the short version)

Finding out I was pregnant was the best day of my life.
I was over the moon happy!

My happiness did not last long.

On July 22, 2005, I lost my precious babybear (Tyla) at 26 weeks gestation.
My heart broke.
No, it shattered.

The next few years were difficult, to say the least.
We talked about having another baby
but we were too afraid.

The risks were too high.

and then...

tragedy struck again.

My husband was diagnosed with cancer.
and just 10 months after he was diagnosed, he passed away.
(you can read the full story HERE)

And so, that's my story.

I look forward to getting to know each of you. Please do come again!!

I haven't celebrated Christmas (no, not even a tree!)
since my husband passed away but
this year, I decided to take part in this giveaway.
I've been wanting to the last couple years, but didn't know what to give away.

I haven't had time to make anything but
then I thought about Patches and how much he means to bereaved parents.

If you don't know about Patches, please check out his blog!

So, I've decided to give away one of Patches' cousins!
Winner can choose which cousin they want.

And since it's Christmas Eve,
I won't pick the winner until December 28th.
so you can hopefully enjoy your holidays.

This giveaway is open to bereaved parents in Canada and the United States.
Giveaway closes at 11:59 pm, CST, December 27, 2011

Oh Ter, your story is heartbreaking. I don't know if I have any good advice for you, but to find the Christmas spririt maybe you need to remember the happy times. Rely on those memories to help get you through the holidays. Your husband and daughter want you to be happy...I'm sure of that. I hope the next couple days are gentle on you. xo

I am so sorry for your losses. To find my Christmas spirit I look for small signs from my angels to let me know they are near. I also choose to spend the entire month doing acts of kindness to others in their memory and it helps make this season a bit more bearable. Hugs to you!

What a touching giveaway. I read through Patches blog a bit. What a great idea - I hope you got him back since you last wrote over there.

What an extremely difficult situation you are in. Losing both your daughter, and your husband is just absolutely horrific. I can only imagine how lonely it must be - Especially during this time of year that is so family centered. I know for myself, I cope by doing lots of things in memory of my daughter. It seems to make it a little more bearable knowing that I am able to "do" something for her. I decorate a small Christmas tree and take it to her grave, and I make a several visits over the Christmas season to her grave to just be there and let her know how much I love her. I also hang a stocking for her and fill it with little decorations/ornaments that I think she would like. Doing things like this is the only way I can get through Christmas. I need her to be a part of our traditions to be able to take part in them myself. (((hugs)))

I am so sorry for the loss of your precious Angel Tyla and the loss of your husband. Words can not describe how heartbroken I am for you.

As I have thought about your question of how to find your Christmas spirit I don't know that I have an answer for you because I am struggling with that myself this year. But, as I see how you are doing this give away and the good that you are doing with Patches the Bear I think that you have some of that Christmas Spirit. I guess I define it different now--not the typical christmas stuff--tree, presents, songs--etc., but for me it is every time I do things that honor and remember my loss babies and when you reach out to help someone else who is hurting which is what patches the bear is doing--it is like a personal hug from you to us BLM's. You are an example to me of the Christmas Spirit!

I'm sorry for the loss of your angel and your husband. My heart goes out to you and I'm thinking about you this Christmas <3

Thank you for participating in the giveaways this year. I think that you made a wonderful choice for your giveaway. I have been waiting to meet patches for along time now lol. I was close before the name list was lost, but I'm back on there! If you haven't found him yet, hope you find him soon! I find the Christmas spirit through my living children. They are my everything and have taught me so much!

Oh, Ter...Your story breaks my heart and your giveaway breaks my heart even more since Patches was on his way to me. I have been meaning to contact you to see if there is anything else I can do.
:( To help you find your spirit, know that you are always supported and loved. Hopefully, you are able to find signs of your loved ones in the little things you do throughout each day that you are here without them. They are always with you...hold onto that. <3 Love to you, hun.

I am so sorry that your loved ones cannot be here with you. I am not sure about finding spirit, as it seems that being completely "ready" for the holidays emotionally never really happens for me.

I want to thank you for taking part in this giveaway, I felt like doing these little things helps ease some of the pain. Bringing a smile to someone else's face made it a teeny bit easier for me to smile.

Sending you lots of love, remember that there is an amazing amount of support and love to make it a little easier.

I am so sorry for what you have gone through! That would definately make it hard to find Christmas spirit! My thoughts and prayers are with you. Thanks for doing this giveaway!

This is my first Christmas without my Roosevelt IV. It was rough but I made it through. I went to visit him.
